Gordon Murray S1 supercar debuts at Monterey Car Week

Gordon Murray Automotive has unveiled the S1, a new supercar designed for long-distance touring, during Monterey Car Week at The Quail. While based on the S1 LM platform, the S1 shifts focus from track performance to comfort and grand touring capabilities.

The vehicle features a completely redesigned body that removes the large fixed rear wing and deep front splitter of its predecessor in favor of an integrated active aerodynamics system. It is powered by a 4.2-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine developed with Cosworth, producing 690 hp at 12,100 rpm. The engine is paired with a six-speed manual transmission featuring a longer sixth gear optimized for highway cruising.

To enhance ride quality, the S1 has a ride height increased by 10mm and retuned dampers. The interior maintains a three-seat configuration with a central driving position but includes improved sound insulation, premium materials, and enhanced infotainment to support long-distance travel. Despite these comfort upgrades, the manufacturer aims to keep the weight lower than the T.50.
