Gorizia hospital demolition sparks asbestos concerns

The National Association of Mutilated and Invalid Workers (Anmil) is calling for transparency regarding the demolition of the former civil hospital on via Vittorio Veneto in Gorizia. During the recently completed demolition, more than 37 tons of asbestos were discovered.

Anmil President Amedeo Bozzer has requested official documentation to be made available to citizens to address concerns about the potential spread of highly harmful dust to human health and the environment. While the association expressed confidence that the intervention followed environmental and worker safety regulations as claimed by the local government and project management, they emphasized the right of citizens, including those from across the border, to know the specific risks involved.

Regional president Fernando Della Ricca added that the situation is not merely about building demolition but concerns public health protection and maintaining citizen trust in institutions.
