Gorizia province experiences autumn foliage in vineyards

The autumn season is transforming the landscapes of Italy's vineyard regions. In the Gorizia province, the foliage phenomenon is prominently visible across the Collio hills, chestnut groves, and the Carso plateau. The changing colors of the vines—ranging from straw yellow to copper red—are most striking between mid-October and early November.

Key areas for observing these seasonal shifts include Cormons, Capriva del Friuli, Dolegna del Collio, and San Floriano del Collio. The Sentiero delle Vigne Alte, which connects Spessa Castle to the La Subida area near Cormons, offers a notable route through both vineyards and wooded sections.

Beyond the visual landscape, the post-harvest period marks a transition from field labor to cellar work, where the transformation of must into wine begins. This seasonal cycle has historically carried spiritual significance, linking the labor of the harvest to religious traditions and the stewardship of the land.
