Gorj authorities investigate death of 14-year-old girl

Authorities in Gorj, Romania, have launched an investigation following the death of a 14-year-old girl at the Novaci Hospital. The teenager was admitted in critical condition and suffered a cardio-respiratory arrest just three minutes after arrival. Despite intensive resuscitation efforts by medical staff from Novaci and the Târgu Jiu Emergency County Hospital, the girl was pronounced dead.

Medical staff reported being shocked to discover that the minor had been receiving intravenous treatment, including antibiotics, at home prior to her arrival. Doctors also noted that the girl's twin sister and mother appeared to be undergoing similar home-based treatments for pneumonia.

Police are investigating whether these home treatments were prescribed by a medical professional and under what circumstances. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
