Podgorica Mayor addresses Gornja Vrbica water and road demands

Residents of Gornja Vrbica in Kučime held protests in front of the Podgorica City Administration to demand a solution for a water supply crisis that has lasted over a decade. Approximately 30 villagers expressed frustration over unfulfilled promises to provide drinking water by mid-year.

Podgorica Mayor Saša Mujović met with the protesters and stated that while the permanent water supply project, valued at 700,000 euros, is 95 percent complete, a major obstacle remains regarding electricity supply. CEDIS has reportedly indicated that the current infrastructure cannot provide sufficient energy to power the necessary pumps. Officials are currently considering alternative solutions, such as the installation of solar panels.

As an immediate measure, authorities have agreed to pave a 400-meter road section through the village within the next ten days. Regarding water, technical services from Vodovod will conduct field inspections to determine if the village can be temporarily connected to an existing water source to meet basic needs while the permanent system is finalized.
