Gornji Ibar factory site transitions from industry to urban land

The former Gornji Ibar factory site in Rožaje, Montenegro, is transitioning from an industrial complex to valuable urban construction land. The site encompasses approximately 87,500 square meters of land and 35,000 square meters of factory facilities.

Following the factory's bankruptcy and closure, the land's purpose has shifted from industrial production toward sale, lease, and new valuation. In 2007, the state purchased Gornji Ibar for approximately 3.2 million euros with the intent to restore production, but the factory was never reactivated.

In 2014, the organization MANS warned that the area was being repurposed for construction. Subsequently, the state began dividing the complex into individual locations for sale and lease. In October 2020, the Government of Montenegro transferred the land to the Municipality of Rožaje, a decision finalized in cadastral records by late 2021.
