Gorod announces eighth studio album ‘The Ember Gone’

French technical death metal band Gorod is preparing to release their eighth studio album, ‘The Ember Gone’, scheduled for release on August 28, 2026, via Base Productions and Season of Mist.

In recent interviews, frontman Julien Deyres discussed the band’s evolution, noting a shift from purely technical speed and blastbeats toward a more progressive, melodic, and groove-oriented sound. The new material incorporates African rhythms and clean vocals, aiming to reach a broader audience while maintaining their signature harmonized twin-guitar style.

Deyres also highlighted the personal and environmental influences on the record. The band described the impact of recent megafires in the Bordeaux region as an ‘apocalyptic’ experience that shaped their perspective, even using the scorched landscapes of the Dune du Pyla for their promotional photography to reflect the current era.
