Gorontalo Prosecutor Detains Former Acting Governor for Corruption

The Gorontalo High Prosecutor's Office has detained Hamka Hendra Noer, the former Acting Governor of Gorontalo, in connection with a 2022 corruption case involving the procurement of a Command Centre Video Wall. The project, valued at 5 billion Indonesian Rupiah, was allegedly included in the regional budget despite not being listed in the local government work plan.

Investigators allege that Noer directed the former Provincial Secretary to coordinate with the Budget Committee to ensure the project was included in the revised budget. Noer is the fifth suspect in the case, joining four others including a former head of the Communication and Information Office and directors from PT Prio Integrasi Universal. He will be held at the Gorontalo Class IIA Prison for 20 days during the investigation.

In response to the legal proceedings, the Ministry of Youth and Sports announced that Noer no longer serves as a specialist staff member. The Ministry has requested the President to formally dismiss him from his position and has proposed his temporary suspension as a civil servant to maintain institutional integrity.
