Gorontalo community group protests alleged criminalization of Mayor

The Aliansi Masyarakat Kota Gorontalo Bersatu (AMKGB) has held a protest in front of the Gorontalo Regional Police (Polda Gorontalo) to demand an end to what they describe as the criminalization of the Mayor of Gorontalo.

The group is calling for the cessation of legal proceedings involving the Mayor regarding the former Post Office official residence. AMKGB leader Amin Mootalu stated that the legal process should be handled through administrative or civil courts, specifically suggesting that the validity of the Mayor's decisions be tested in an administrative court rather than through criminal investigation.

Additionally, the protesters questioned the progress of investigations into alleged involvement by police members in the attack and damage of the Gorontalo City Satpol PP office. The group expressed concerns regarding the speed of the investigation and the legal status of the historic building involved in the case.
