Gorontalo expands Posyandu role to integrate social services
The Gorontalo provincial government is transforming Posyandu (Integrated Service Posts) into multi-sectoral community hubs. Beyond health services, the initiative aims to integrate six Minimum Service Standards (SPM), including education, public works, housing, social services, and public order and protection.
Governor Gusnar Ismail emphasized that addressing community issues requires cross-sectoral cooperation from all regional government organizations. This integrated approach is also intended to accelerate the reduction of stunting rates in the province, which have reportedly decreased from 23 percent to 18 percent.
Gorontalo has also achieved a national high in monitoring toddler growth and development. As of September 2026, the province reached a 60.87 percent achievement rate in Posyandu monitoring, surpassing the national target of 55 percent. This success is attributed to the OPTALA innovation for data management, active community health workers, and intensive provincial supervision.
