Gorontalo Governor addresses fuel shortages for motorized rickshaw drivers

Governor Gusnar Ismail met with the Gorontalo Motorized Rickshaw Drivers Association (IPB) and student representatives to address a fuel crisis characterized by long queues at gas stations and scarcity. Drivers reported that hours spent queuing for fuel have drastically reduced their ability to find passengers and earn daily income. Additionally, drivers expressed concerns over high prices at unofficial bottle depots, which can reach Rp 15,000.

To resolve the distribution issues, the Gorontalo provincial government is implementing several measures. This includes deploying a fuel task force to work with law enforcement to crack down on hoarding mafias and individuals using modified vehicle tanks for illegal large-scale purchases.

The Governor has also coordinated with Pertamina to schedule fuel deliveries to gas stations at midnight. This tactic aims to ensure supplies are replenished before morning activities begin, thereby reducing daytime congestion and queues at service stations.
