Gorontalo hosts Gebyar Menari dance festival
Approximately 500 dancers from 50 different art groups across Gorontalo Province participated in the ‘Gebyar Gorontalo Menari’ festival held at Citymall Gorontalo on Saturday, October 10, 2026. The event, organized by the Gorontalo Provincial Education and Culture Office, served as part of the provincial celebrations for the 64th National Museum Day.
Gorontalo Vice Governor Idah Syahidah Rusli Habibie officially opened the event, which featured simultaneous performances across multiple floors of the mall. During her address, the Vice Governor emphasized the necessity of cultural regeneration and the involvement of the younger generation to ensure the survival of local traditions. She noted that traditional dance serves as a medium of communication rich with philosophy and regional identity.
To address modern developments, the Vice Governor encouraged local dance studios to innovate by collaborating between traditional and modern styles, provided they maintain their original cultural identity and core values. She expressed hope that the festival would become a sustainable regional agenda rather than a one-time ceremonial event.
