Gorontalo Mayor to report Culture Minister Fadli Zon to police

Gorontalo Mayor Adhan Dambea has announced plans to report Minister of Culture Fadli Zon to the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri). The dispute stems from the demolition of the former Post and Telegraph Office Head's residence in Gorontalo.

Mayor Dambea claims that Fadli Zon’s statements regarding the demolition have unfairly implicated him in property damage. Dambea maintains that he was unaware of when the demolition occurred and disputes the building's status as a cultural heritage site, arguing that it has not undergone the necessary legal processes to be categorized as such.

In response to allegations that Governor Gusnar Ismail influenced the Minister regarding the heritage issue, the Gorontalo Provincial Government clarified that the Governor's meeting with Fadli Zon was intended to discuss the nomination of HB Jassin and Aloei Saboe as National Heroes. The provincial spokesperson noted that Fadli Zon’s involvement in the meeting was due to his role as Chairman of the Council of Titles, Decorations, and Honors.
