Gorontalo Mayor warns retail fuel operators against high prices

Gorontalo Mayor Adhan Dambea has issued a warning to operators of ‘Pom Mini’ and fuel depots that are selling gasoline at inflated prices. This decision follows long queues at official gas stations, which have created opportunities for retail sellers to charge significantly higher rates.

While fuel distribution falls under provincial authority, the Gorontalo City Government intends to take action to protect citizens from rising retail costs. The Mayor has instructed relevant regional agencies to collect data on all retail fuel operators in the city. The initial approach will involve inviting these operators for education and guidance to ensure prices remain reasonable. However, the Mayor emphasized that if operators refuse to comply, the government will take enforcement measures to regulate the situation.
