Gorontalo officials propose HB Jassin and Aloei Saboe for National Hero titles

The Gorontalo Provincial Government has officially submitted documents to the Indonesian Ministry of Culture to nominate two regional figures, Hans Bague (HB) Jassin and Prof. Dr. dr. Aloei Saboe, for the title of National Hero.

Governor Gusnar Ismail delivered the proposal to Minister of Culture Fadli Zon in Jakarta on August 24, 2026. The submission follows extensive efforts by the provincial government and the Regional Title Research and Study Team (TP2GD), which included historical research, administrative preparation, and national seminars to ensure the candidates meet state regulations.

As the Chairman of the Council of Titles, Medals, and Honors (GTK), Fadli Zon will oversee the administrative and substantive verification process. The council, including historians and experts, will evaluate the candidates' contributions and legacies before providing recommendations to the President of Indonesia for the final decision.
