Gorontalo Province Reports Rise in Farmer Index and Drop in Poverty
Data released by Indonesia's Badan Pusat Statistik on 5 August 2026 show that Gorontalo Province’s Indeks Nilai Tukar Petani (farmer price index) rose to 121.85, indicating higher agricultural incomes. At the same time, the provincial poverty rate fell to 12.16 % in March 2026, down from 12.62 % in September 2025, lifting more than 5,000 residents out of poverty.
Provincial leaders Governor Gusnar Ismail and Vice‑Governor Idah Syahidah credited the improvement to a suite of programs targeting small‑scale enterprises, trade services, and limited agricultural downstream processing. Dr. Wahyudin Katili, head of Gorontalo’s Bappeda, noted that the decline also coincided with a reduction in the number of people living in extreme poverty, despite a rising average poverty line. The administration says continued focused, measured interventions are expected to sustain the gains.
