Gorsedd Cymru inducts notable figures at National Eisteddfod

Several notable figures were inducted into Gorsedd Cymru during a ceremony at the National Eisteddfod in Llantwd. The ceremony, led by Archdruid of Wales Mererid Hopwood, honored individuals for their contributions to Welsh culture and language.

Among the inductees were broadcaster Mari Grug, recognized for her work with S4C and Radio Cymru and her advocacy following her cancer diagnosis, and her mother, Ann Siriol Davies, an author and adjudicator. Former Welsh international footballer Joe Allen was also honored; he noted that the ceremony was more nerve-wracking than playing in a World Cup.

Reggae singer Aleighcia Scott was recognized for her pioneering Welsh-language music, which includes the first Welsh reggae song to reach number one on iTunes. Other inductees included broadcaster Heledd Cynwal, arts ambassador Eluned Haf, community volunteers Wyn and Meirwen Evans, Pembrokeshire Coast National Park chief executive Tegryn Jones, and musician Ryland Teifi.
