Gorsedh Kernow welcomes 21 new bards in Bodmin ceremony

The Gorsedh Kernow annual bard-naming ceremony took place at Priory Park in Bodmin as part of the Esedhvos Festival of Cornish Culture. During the event, 21 new bards were welcomed into the College of Bards in recognition of their service to Cornwall.

The initiation was led by Grand Bard Jenefer Lowe and included ceremonial elements such as a parade of banners by Old Cornwall Societies, Cornish wrestling demonstrations, and performances by the Bodmin Town Band. New bards, wearing distinctive blue robes, selected bardic names during the installation, which was conducted in the Cornish language.

Among the recipients was Jim Christophers of Newquay, recognized for the promotion of Kernow through music. Christophers, a concert co-ordinator for the Newquay Male Voice Choir, adopted the bardic name Kanor Keur Mawnan.
