Gortynia search continues for missing municipal worker

Search operations are entering their third consecutive day in the Gortynia region to locate Alexios Koutros, a 50-year-old municipal sanitation worker and resident of Kontovazaina. Koutros was last seen on the morning of Thursday, October 1, in the Karkalos area while performing his duties.

The large-scale search operation involves the Police, Fire Service, EMAK with specialized search dogs, volunteers, and the Arcadia Rescue Team. Search efforts have expanded into the broader mountainous region of Mainalo, utilizing drones to inspect difficult-to-reach terrain.

A Silver Alert has been activated by the ‘Life Line’ organization, stating that his life is in danger. Koutros is described as 1.80 meters tall with brownish-green eyes and short brown hair. On the day he disappeared, he was wearing a grey jumpsuit, a blue short-sleeved T-shirt, a blue sleeveless jacket, a thick gold chain with a large gold cross, black metal-framed glasses, and heavy black work boots.

To facilitate the rescue teams and ensure participant safety, a temporary hunting ban has been implemented in the area between Karkalos and Valtesiniko, effective until further notice.
