Goryeong strawberry exports grow 36-fold following GAP award

The Woori Deul En Agricultural Union in Goryeong-gun has received the Grand Prize in the production category at the 12th GAP (Good Agricultural Practices) Certification Best Practice Contest. Hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the award recognizes the union's efforts in establishing a safe agricultural production system and linking it to increased exports and farm income.

Since obtaining GAP certification in 2017, the union has maintained strict quality control, including pre-shipment safety inspections for all member farms and a specialized system for joint sorting, cold storage, and refrigerated transport. This rigorous management has led to a significant surge in strawberry exports, which grew from 840 kg in 2023 to 30,176 kg as of May 2026, expanding the export market to seven countries including Hong Kong.

The success is attributed to the collaboration between the agricultural union's quality management and the Goryeong-gun Agricultural Policy and Distribution Processing Team, which provided administrative support to diversify export destinations and increase volumes.
