In Croatia, Member of Parliament Dalija Orešković has criticized the government, alleging that the involvement of Petro Pripuz's business group in the remediation process creates a conflict of interest, stating that the group cannot be both the cause of the problem and the solution. Meanwhile, a protest titled ‘Walk for Lika, Walk for Croatia’ is scheduled for September 5 in Zagreb to address the 37,000 tons of illegal and hazardous waste in the Lika region.

In Montenegro, the Ministry of Spatial Planning, Urbanism and State Property is initiating land expropriation at the KAP red mud basin and solid waste landfill to facilitate environmental remediation and reduce long-term ecological risks.
