Gostivar region reports high rate of unsafe drinking water samples

Data from the Public Health Center Tetovo – Gostivar Unit reveals that nearly half of the drinking water samples analyzed in the Gostivar region this year failed to meet safety parameters. Between January 1 and August 12, 159 out of 317 samples were deemed unsuitable, while 158 were found to be compliant.

Microbiological issues were the most frequent cause of failure, though some locations also showed deviations in physico-chemical parameters. Repeatedly unsuitable results were recorded in several settlements, including Vrapçishti, Debreshi, Zubovca, Galata, Toplica, Dobërdolli, Negotina, Gradeci, Novo Sello, Vërtoku, and Pozharani.

In Galiçnik, specific points such as public fountains, a restaurant, and the Neda Hotel failed microbiological testing on July 7. While some areas, including parts of Gostivar city, showed improvement with compliant results in late July and early August, the overall data indicates persistent water quality challenges across the region.
