Got Your Back Sista holds annual I Run for Her event

The domestic and family violence charity Got Your Back Sista held its annual ‘I Run for Her’ event in Newcastle, bringing together approximately one thousand participants to advocate against domestic and family violence.

One survivor, Breanna, shared her journey of regaining confidence through the non-profit’s empowerment programs. The event also served as a space for remembrance, including participants walking in honor of victims such as Megan Tangye, who was allegedly murdered by a former partner in December 2025.

According to Australian Femicide Watch, more than 55 women have died due to domestic violence in Australia this year.
