Gotha roofing wages to increase by 3.4 percent

Roofing professionals in the Gotha district will receive higher collective bargaining wages starting in October. According to the Industrial Union Construction, Agriculture and Environment (IG BAU), wages will increase by 3.4 percent.

For a journeyman, this represents an increase of approximately 130 euros per month. The IG BAU reports that there are 21 roofing companies in the Gotha district employing roughly 180 people. Union representative Ralf Eckardt highlighted the physically demanding nature of the work, which involves various weather conditions and tasks such as roof repair, flat roof sealing, energy-efficient insulation, and solar system installation.
