Gotham FC to relocate home games to Queens' Etihad Park in 2028
Two‑time NWSL champions Gotham FC announced it will move its home matches from New Jersey to the Etihad Park stadium in Queens, New York, beginning in the 2028 season. The $780 million, 25,000‑seat venue, built for MLS side New York City FC and slated to open in spring 2027, will serve as Gotham’s permanent home a year later. Club governor Carolyn Tisch Blodgett said the move reflects the team’s ambition to become “one of the world’s most iconic clubs,” while president of soccer operations Yael Averbuch West highlighted the benefits of a dedicated, modern facility for players and fans. The relocation is expected to bring the club within a 75‑minute commute of more than three million additional supporters, though it will increase travel distance for longtime fans in New Jersey. Gotham previously played at Harrison’s Sports Illustrated Stadium after leaving Rutgers’ Yurcak Field in 2020.
