Gotland elects new regional political leadership

The Gotland regional council held its constituent meeting on October 15 to establish the political leadership for the 2026–2030 mandate period.

A new political majority has been formed by the Social Democrats, the Center Party, and the Left Party. Meit Fohlin (S) has been elected as the chair of the regional executive board, leading the majority's work and preparing matters such as the regional budget.

The council's presidium will be led by Chair Gabriella Hammarskjöld (C), with Christer Engelhardt (S) as first vice chair and Bobo Writler (M) as second vice chair. The regional executive board includes 15 members, and the region will be managed by eleven regional councillors working either full-time or part-time.
