Goulburn police charge learner drivers after pursuits and officer assault
Two learner drivers in Goulburn, Australia, face various charges following separate incidents over a weekend in August.
A 16-year-old boy was arrested after allegedly attempting to evade police in a Holden sedan. During the incident, the driver reportedly struck a male constable and a marked police vehicle before fleeing. The constable sustained a minor leg injury. The teenager faces multiple charges, including assault a police officer in the execution of duty, dangerous driving, and operating a vehicle with obscured number plates.
In a separate occurrence, a man was charged after a high-speed pursuit through the Goulburn CBD. The driver allegedly reached speeds of 125 km/h in a 60 km/h zone. After police deployed road spikes, the driver reportedly continued on the vehicle's rims before driving onto an abandoned train line.
