Gounos camp redevelopment tender enters final stage

The tender for the redevelopment of the former Gounos military camp in western Thessaloniki has entered its final stage. The project, involving 672 acres, is expected to transform the area into a major logistics hub with an estimated investment of over €260 million.

Two main groups remain in the competition. The first is a consortium consisting of Goldair Cargo (50%), AKTOR (30%), and Trade Estates from the Furlis group (20%). The second competitor is the Thiesse Thessaloniki Port Authority (OLTH), representing the interests of Ivan Savvidis. Previous participants, including Trade Logistics–Intrakat and Noval, have withdrawn from the process.

The National Development Fund has updated the timeline, stating that binding financial offers are expected to be submitted by the end of 2026. Following the approval of the second phase documents by GAIAOSE, bidders will have the opportunity to submit observations on the concession agreement before the final financial bidding stage.

To ensure the project's viability, the Greek government has prioritized necessary infrastructure works, including connecting the site to the Egnatia Odos and the Thessaloniki Peripheral Road. These public obligations, along with the relocation of existing activities and the Roma community, are critical to the development of the logistics hub.
