Philips unveils new AI lighting and premium TV lineup at IFA 2026

At IFA 2026, Philips and its Signify-owned brand Philips Hue announced a significant expansion of their smart home and entertainment ecosystems. Key hardware updates include the Hue Play Screen Sync, a camera-based system using a fisheye lens to synchronize smart lights with any TV source without requiring an HDMI connection. Additionally, a more affordable Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box 4K was introduced, alongside the Liane 360, a 360-degree illuminating rope light.

On the television front, Philips unveiled a new premium lineup featuring OLED, OLED+, QLED, and its first RGB Mini-LED model, the MLED981. The new range includes the PQS9001, a 100-inch Ambilight TV, which is currently the largest of its kind. These models feature AmbiScape technology, which extends Ambilight colors to up to four compatible smart lights to immerse the entire room.

Software advancements include AI-driven features such as 'Custom AI Behaviors' for Philips Hue, allowing users to create lighting automations using natural language. For television, Philips introduced 'AI Adaptive Motion,' a technology designed to reduce motion stutter in 24fps films while avoiding the 'soap opera effect' by analyzing scenes in real time. The ecosystem also now supports integration with Nanoleaf products via the Hue Wall Light Module.
