Govee survey reveals German preference for layered winter lighting
A survey of 5,000 German adults conducted by Civey on behalf of smart lighting brand Govee reveals a growing preference for layered, warm lighting during the winter months. According to the findings, 78% of respondents consider lighting essential for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere during the dark winter season.
The data indicates a shift toward multi-layered lighting setups to enhance home comfort. Approximately 73% of those surveyed use multiple light sources in their living rooms, with 64% agreeing that combining soft light sources makes a space feel cozier. This trend aligns with activities such as streaming films (52%), reading (40%), and socializing (34%), which favor ambient light over harsh, clinical illumination.
Among Germans under the age of 40, there is a heightened emphasis on personalized and interactive lighting environments.
