Governador Valadares to receive mobile health unit for specialized exams
The Ministry of Health, in partnership with the City Hall of Governador Valadares and the Brazilian Agency for Support to SUS Management (AgSUS), is deploying a mobile health unit known as the 'Carreta da Saúde' starting October 9.
Located at Praça dos Pioneiros on Avenida Minas Gerais, the unit is expected to perform approximately 1,344 ultrasounds and 1,344 CT scans per month. This initiative aims to temporarily expand the availability of specialized exams in the municipality and the surrounding region.
Services will be available Monday through Friday from 8:00 to 18:00, and Saturdays from 8:00 to 12:00. Access is not via spontaneous demand; patients must be pre-scheduled through the regulation process following evaluation by Family Health Strategy teams.
In this initial phase, the service will cover Governador Valadares and the municipalities of Alpercata, Tumiritinga, Fernandes Tourinho, Sobrália, and Galileia. The selection of these cities considers the context of areas affected by dam failures in the Rio Doce basin. The program also includes provisions for indigenous populations.
