Governikus showcases digital identity solutions in Bremen
During the German Unity Day celebrations held in Bremen from October 2 to 4, the IT security company Governikus showcased digital identity solutions. Working alongside partners such as Dataport AöR, buergerservice.org, and Deutschland sicher im Netz e. V. (DsiN), the company provided demonstrations on the use and security of online identification functions.
Key discussions focused on the AusweisApp, a free application developed on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Information Security and Development. The app allows citizens to access digital administrative services, such as online vehicle registration and BAföG applications, via smartphones, tablets, or computers.
Addressing privacy concerns, experts clarified that the AusweisApp does not store personal ID data but merely forwards it to the requested service. Governikus executives Dr. Stephan Klein and Hartje Bruns noted that the event highlighted significant public interest in secure digital identities and practical applications for citizens, authorities, and businesses.
