Government agencies in The Gambia and Solomon Islands undergo governance and capacity reforms

The Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs (MoFEA) in The Gambia has concluded a two-day high-level workshop focused on strengthening the governance, performance, and accountability of government agencies. Supported by the European Union through a Technical Assistance programme, the initiative aims to assess existing governance frameworks and implement reforms to improve financial management and service delivery. Officials noted that the establishment of the Directorate of Agencies in 2024 has already enhanced oversight and coordination within the ministry.

In the Solomon Islands, the Building Capacity in Statistics and Audit (CAPSA) project has completed its mid-term review. The review assessed the project’s progress in strengthening national statistical systems and audit functions. Findings indicate solid progress in enhancing institutional and technical capacity, which supports better governance and evidence-based decision-making. The review process involved consultations with government agencies and development partners, including the World Bank, to refine implementation strategies for the remainder of the project period.
