Government authorities launch investigations into gambling contracts and ministry irregularities

In Argentina, the Fiscalía de Investigaciones Administrativas (FIA) has ordered the Ministry of Connectivity and Modernization and DAFAS to release the concession contract for online gambling operated by Casino Club S.A. The ruling follows a request by Julián Angelucci of Avanzar Juntos-CC, who argued that the contract is public information. The requested documentation includes the current concession agreement, its extensions, the methodology for calculating the “Net-Win” canon, and financial statements for 2024 and 2025. Projections suggest the platform could generate approximately 50 billion pesos annually.

In Colombia, the government has announced legal action against former Minister of Equality Luis Alfredo Acosta. During the liquidation process of the ministry, officials discovered that Acosta has not returned the keys to warehouses containing DIAN merchandise valued at approximately 16.8 billion pesos. Additionally, a review of the ministry's social programs fund, FonIgualdad, identified over 60 contracts signed in the final months of operation totaling roughly 469 billion pesos. The government noted a high concentration of funds, with a single contractor receiving more than 171 billion pesos, despite the ministry having an investment execution rate of only 5% the previous year.
