Government e-Marketplace hits Rs 20 lakh crore cumulative GMV
The Government e-Marketplace (GeM) has reached a cumulative Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) of over Rs 20 lakh crore since its inception, facilitating more than 3.78 crore orders. As the platform enters its 11th year, it now connects approximately 1.37 lakh government buyer organizations with nearly 25 lakh sellers and service providers.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal noted that GeM's annual GMV recently soared to over Rs 1,55,000 crore, a significant increase from Rs 422 crore a decade ago. The platform features over 10,660 product categories and 350 service categories, ranging from medical equipment to human resource services.
The marketplace has seen significant participation from diverse groups. More than 12.28 lakh Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) are registered, with women-led MSEs accounting for over 2.25 lakh registrations. Additionally, more than 42,000 startups are registered on the portal. The platform aims to further improve transparency and efficiency through artificial intelligence and expanded digital procurement processes.
