Governor Alex Otti Honored by African Union and Hands Over Nigeria’s First Air Force Complex in Abia

On 22 July 2026, Engr. Franklin Ugochukwu, the personal photographer to Abia State Governor Dr Alex Otti, was presented with an African Union Agenda 2063 Ambassadorial Award for his contributions to youth development and humanitarian service. The honour included an ambassadorial certificate, plaque, medal, diplomatic passport and other insignia, recognizing his philanthropic initiatives across Nigeria and Africa.

A week later, on 31 July 2026, Governor Otti formally handed over the first Nigerian Air Force Administrative Complex in Umuahia to Air Marshal Kelvin Aneke, Chief of the Air Staff, and Defence Minister Christopher Musa. The facility completes the deployment of the Army, Navy and Air Force in Abia State. Otti said, “The right to security for our people, whether they are residents or visitors, is non‑negotiable,” while Air Marshal Aneke called the hand‑over “the first time a governor has handed over infrastructure of this magnitude,” praising its impact on security and socio‑economic development.
