Governor Alfonso Durazo brings scholarships, equipment and free services to northwest Sonora

Governor Alfonso Durazo Montaño toured the municipalities of Trincheras and Cucurpe in Sonora, delivering direct support to vulnerable residents. In Trincheras he handed over a retroexcavator valued at over MXN 1.1 million to aid road rehabilitation, while in Cucurpe he provided scholarships from the "Sonora de Oportunidades" program worth MXN 81,400 for basic‑education students and a garbage‑truck costing more than MXN 2.5 million to improve waste management.

The trips were part of the state’s "Sonora Atiende" initiative, which since its launch in May 2025 has held more than 123 free‑service sessions across the state, offering health care, civil‑registry, housing, social assistance and citizen‑orientation services without requiring travel to urban centers. The program has already distributed 607,000 economic incentives to students to curb drop‑out rates. Durazo emphasized the administration’s heightened capacity to respond quickly to municipal needs, stating, "Desde el gobierno del estado tenemos mayor capacidad de respuesta…".
