Governor Bassey Otu inaugurates APC campaign council in Cross River

Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu has inaugurated the All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council for the 2027 general elections in Calabar. During the event, Otu highlighted his administration’s progress under the People First Agenda, focusing on debt reduction, asset recovery, and infrastructure renewal.

Otu reported that his government reduced the state's inherited domestic debt from over ₦204 billion to approximately ₦132.3 billion as of March 2026, achieving this reduction of over ₦70 billion without incurring new loans. He also noted that internally generated revenue rose from ₦21.1 billion in 2022 to ₦46.3 billion in 2024.

Regarding asset recovery, the governor cited the reclamation of Tinapa from the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) and the recovery of nearly ₦1 billion from Etung Cocoa Estates as key achievements. Otu emphasized that a second term would transition the state from economic recovery to wealth creation.
