Governor Bobby Nasution advances Islamic finance, budget law and regional salary policy in North Sumatra

Governor Muhammad Bobby Afif Nasution asked the North Sumatra Financial Services Authority (OJK) to strengthen the Islamic‑finance ecosystem and to classify economic development needs for each regency and city. He highlighted the need to expand halal‑finance products as Indonesia still imports many halal goods.

Nasution and the North Sumatra Provincial DPRD jointly approved a draft regional regulation (Ranperda) on accountability for the 2025 provincial budget (APBD). The draft will be sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs within three working days for evaluation, paving the way for the 2026 and 2027 budget cycles.

Separately, Nasution clarified that he never personally proposed a salary increase for regional heads, but said any raise should be linked to measurable performance indicators and key‑performance metrics. The Ministry of Home Affairs is preparing to revise the 2000 regulation governing regional officials’ financial rights.
