Governor Braun announces automotive and infrastructure funding for Indiana
Indiana Governor Mike Braun has announced two major funding initiatives aimed at strengthening the state's economy and infrastructure.
Through the new ADAPT grant program, Indiana will utilize a $10.79 million award from the U.S. Department of Energy to support small- and medium-sized automotive suppliers. These grants, ranging from $100,000 to $1 million, require a 1:1 company match and are intended to help manufacturers transition to producing components for hybrid, electric, and hydrogen-powered vehicles. The program aims to protect existing jobs and develop new capabilities within the state's automotive supply chain.
Additionally, the Governor announced nearly $110 million in INDOT Community Crossings Matching Grants. This funding will be distributed among 346 cities, towns, and counties across Indiana to support local road and bridge improvements. The grants require local governments to invest alongside the state to facilitate infrastructure projects designed to improve safety and support local business growth.
