Governor Eduardo Leite announces multi‑million school upgrades in Novo Hamburgo
Rio Grande do Sul Governor Eduardo Leite visited schools in Sapiranga, Campo Bom and Novo Hamburgo on Friday, inspecting ongoing construction and recent completions. He said the state is still addressing historic under‑investment in school infrastructure, including roof repairs, electrical work and bathroom upgrades, and noted that further demands remain to be solved.
Leite highlighted a security initiative that will use facial‑recognition cameras in schools, describing it as a technological solution to improve safety. Specific investments disclosed include a R$ 2.4 million renovation of the Dr. Wolfram Metzler State School in Novo Hamburgo, a R$ 5 million upgrade of the Technical State School 31 de Janeiro in Campo Bom, plus additional reforms worth R$ 4.5 million and a planned R$ 454 thousand sub‑station to start in August. Other projects total R$ 3.6 million in the Ildefonso Pinto School and R$ 3.7 million in the La Salle School.
