Governor Fanis Spanos Boosts Health Services and Student Housing in Central Greece

On 5 August 2026, the Governor of Central Greece, Fanis Spanos, received seven new ambulances for the regional EKAB network, part of a broader plan to add 34 ambulances to health centres. The procurement, funded by the ESFA 2014‑2020 programme, follows earlier deliveries and pending tenders for additional vehicles. During the ceremony, Spanos met with Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis to discuss staffing needs and a new monthly housing allowance for newly hired doctors.

Two days earlier, on 3 August 2026, Spanos attended the reopening of the fully renovated Student Hostel in Karpenisi. The upgraded facility, financed by the Regional Development Programme 2021‑2025, can accommodate 50 students and features 26 modern rooms, improved accessibility, energy‑efficient systems, a gym and new communal spaces. The project aims to enhance student life and support regional education.

Both initiatives reflect the governor’s focus on strengthening health infrastructure and student accommodation in Central Greece.
