Governor Gustavo Melella Opens Revamped Child Care Center in Río Grande, Argentina

Governor Gustavo Melella toured the newly reopened Integrated Child Care Center and the newly inaugurated Development Center for early childhood in Río Grande, Tierra del Fuego. He highlighted the province’s integrated approach that combines health, education and welfare services to support families from pregnancy through the first five years of a child’s life. The Integrated Center, a historic institution in the city, was renovated after a prolonged construction phase that eventually secured national funding, allowing it to expand capacity, extend hours and hire additional staff.

Director of the provincial care centers, Piermateo, emphasized the role of community collaboration, noting that the facilities serve children from 45 days to four years old and provide early stimulation, play, and rights‑based protection. She said families will be invited to participate actively in the programs, and further activities will be added to deepen the support offered to the region’s youngest residents.
