Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry and several high-profile officials were escorted from the Pete Maravich Assembly Center on Tuesday night following a threat directed at the LSU campus. The incident occurred during a Celebration of Life event honoring legendary LSU baseball coach Skip Bertman.

LSU Police reported being notified around 8 p.m. of a threat posted on social media. Investigators were able to identify an internet protocol address linked to the post, which allowed them to locate and take a suspect into custody.

Among those escorted from the arena were Baton Rouge Mayor-President Sid Edwards, East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff Sid Gautreaux, and First Lady Sharon Landry. While officials were initially alerted toward the end of the program, security personnel allowed them to remain through the conclusion before the evacuation. LSU Police have since stated that they no longer believe there is an active or credible threat to the LSU campus community.
