Bahia Governor Jerônimo Rodrigues' accounts approved, road concession
The Tribunal de Contas do Estado da Bahia (TCE‑BA) unanimously approved the 2025 accounts of Governor Jerônimo Rodrigues, noting advances in health, education and public security while also highlighting structural fragilities such as high expenses of previous years and under‑valuation of liabilities. The court examined 35 public policies and recommended a corrective action plan within 120 days.
Governor Rodrigues urged the Tribunal de Contas da União (TCU) to speed up the legal process to revoke the BR‑324 highway concession, which was previously held by ViaBahia and terminated under President Luiz Inácio Lula’s administration. He said a new auction for the concession is expected once the legal steps are completed.
He also defended major infrastructure projects, asserting that the Salvador‑Itaparica bridge remains on schedule and that the Salvador light‑rail (VLT) is already in testing between Calçada and Lobato. In the health sector, he highlighted the inauguration of 15 new hospitals and the construction of 22 more.
Separately, his Instagram following grew by 865 288 accounts since 2022, reaching over 914 000 followers, reflecting a significant digital expansion of his political profile.
