Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena Launches Mérida Infrastructure Consultation

Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena announced a series of citizen consultation forums for the “Plan Renacimiento” of Mérida, scheduled from 13 to 20 July. Six thematic forums will be held across the city’s five zones plus a metropolitan forum, each at designated venues such as the Instituto Tecnológico de Mérida, Universidad Tecnológica Metropolitana, and the Centro Internacional de Congresos.

The consultations will focus on three priority areas: improving potable‑water service, upgrading the metropolitan road network and safe‑vial infrastructure, and enhancing security infrastructure with greater police presence and technology. The process is coordinated with the Mérida municipal government, led by Mayor Cecilia Patrón Laviada, and includes an online platform for continuous public input.

Responses gathered will be compiled and presented on 23 July to the permanent commission of the State Planning and Evaluation Council, which will forward a formal request to the Yucatán Congress for a 1.5 billion‑peso credit to fund the identified projects.
