Governor Kathy Hochul heckled during NYC Columbus Day parade
New York Governor Kathy Hochul faced heckling and boos while participating in the 82nd annual Columbus Day parade in Manhattan. As she marched along Fifth Avenue, some observers shouted insults, calling her a ‘disgrace’ and a ‘communist,’ with one individual accusing her of hating Italians and Catholics.
Hochul was accompanied by Attorney General Letitia James and various Catholic leaders and Italian-American dignitaries. The event drew approximately 35,000 participants.
Notably, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani was absent from the celebration, citing ideological opposition to Christopher Columbus. This marks the second major parade the Mayor has declined to attend during his first year in office.
