Governor Kathy Hochul supports Jewish communities in New York

New York Governor Kathy Hochul visited Williamsburg to participate in a food distribution event hosted by the Met Council, marking the opening of the community’s first food pantry. The event provided food for 250 local families.

Ahead of the Jewish High Holidays, the Met Council is distributing over 2 million pounds of kosher food across the region. Met Council CEO David Greenfield noted that the organization is seeing unprecedented demand due to rising costs and unemployment. Governor Hochul expressed her commitment to protecting Jewish communities, specifically mentioning increased security measures for synagogues and yeshivas during the holiday period.
