Governor Mahyeldi discusses national leadership and human resource development

West Sumatra Governor Mahyeldi Ansharullah emphasized that national leadership must be rooted in integrity, morality, and exemplary behavior rather than just technical competence and intelligence. Speaking as a keynote speaker at a public lecture at the SEBI Institute in Depok, West Java, Mahyeldi argued that strong moral leadership is essential for developing superior human resources and shaping the nation's future direction.

Mahyeldi highlighted the strategic role of regional governments in nurturing future leaders, noting that local administrations are closest to the community. He stated that regional development should be measured not only by economic growth and infrastructure but also by the ability to build human capital characterized by competence, integrity, and adaptability.

Addressing the challenges of the digital age and artificial intelligence, he suggested that policies must bridge the gap between education and the workforce through improved skills and digital literacy. He also noted that Indonesia's large productive-age population presents a significant opportunity that requires serious management to ensure the nation's future success.
