Mara Lezama commemorates Maya Social Struggle Day in Tihosuco, Quintana Roo

On July 28, the 18th Legislature of the State Congress held a civic ceremony in Tihosuco, Quintana Roo, to mark the State Day of the Maya Social Struggle, commemorating the 179‑year‑old Maya Social War and the contributions of the Maya people to the state’s history.

Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa attended, speaking about the Maya’s dignity, freedom and justice, and urged preservation of their cultural legacy. The event featured officials from the executive, legislative and judicial branches, municipal authorities, traditional leaders and the Gran Consejo Maya, and included a floral offering at the monument to Jacinto Pat, a prominent Maya leader.
